Dr. Mirrat Gul Butt
Dr. Mirrat Gul Butt is a Clinical Psychologist and researcher with extensive experience spanning academic achievements, frontline clinical practice, and applied mental health research. She holds an MSc in Psychology from Government College University, Lahore, and an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Psychology from the Centre for Clinical Psychology, University of the Punjab. She later completed an MS in Clinical Psychology and a PhD in Clinical Psychology, with specialisation in personality and social psychology. Her work sits at the intersection of evidence-based psychological care, culturally responsive service development, and research translation across diverse clinical and community settings.
With more than a decade of clinical practice, Dr. Butt has delivered assessment and psychological interventions primarily for adults presenting with a broad range of mental health concerns, including emotional dysregulation, suicidal ideation, anger-related difficulties, ADHD, and eating disorders. Building on this depth of experience, she has recently advanced into a focused phase of practice in child psychology, bringing a developmentally informed, family-sensitive lens to assessment and intervention. She is recognised for delivering psychologically safe care in high-pressure contexts and for maintaining professional resilience and sound clinical judgement in complex presentations and emergencies.
Dr. Butt is trained across multiple therapeutic modalities and integrates approaches according to clinical formulation and client needs. Her competencies include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), and suicide risk assessment and management. Where appropriate and ethically indicated, she also incorporates adjunctive techniques such as Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), hypnosis, and Reiki within a person-centred and clinically governed framework.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Butt has an established research profile with active involvement in the design and delivery of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in collaboration with national and international partners. Dr. Butt has contributed to strengthening mental health services in Pakistan through advocacy for ethically informed, culturally sensitive practice and service improvement. She has worked across leading clinical institutions, including Fountain House Lahore, Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore, and Mayo Hospital, Lahore, and brings a strong record of multidisciplinary collaboration and client-centred care.
