Dr. Saima Aleem

Dr. Saima Aleem is a dedicated healthcare professional and accomplished public health expert with a diverse background spanning dentistry, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, and implementation research. Holding a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), she began her career in clinical dentistry but soon recognized the broader impact of public health and shifted her focus to population health and research. She completed her Master’s in Public Health in 2017 and earned a Master’s in Epidemiology and Biostatistics with distinction from KMU in 2022, receiving a gold medal for academic excellence. Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. at the Institute of Public Health & Social Sciences, KMU, with her research focusing on Implementation Determinants of the Integrated TB-Diabetes Care Package in Pakistan under the supervision of Dr. Saima Afaq.

Dr. Saima had served as Assistant Professor Public Health at Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology Peshawar. With extensive teaching, project management, and project evaluation experience, Dr. Saima has led numerous trainings and capacity-building workshops on Public Partnerships in Health Research, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Data Management in Health Research, Systematic Reviews & Meta Analysis, and Grant Writing for students, researchers, and project teams. Her expertise also includes co-leading and managing donor-funded projects by Health Research Institute Pakistan, and UNWOMEN, where she played a key role in designing, managing, and evaluating initiatives aimed at improving public health outcomes of ethnic and gender minorities residing in Pakistan.

Dr. Saima is proficient in a wide range of analytical and research tools, including SPSS, NVIVO, Rayyan, and RevMan, enabling her to handle qualitative and quantitative data analysis with precision.

As a peer reviewer for national and reputable international journals, she actively contributes to maintaining academic integrity and advancing evidence-based research. Her diverse roles across projects funded by HRI Pakistan, UNWOMEN, NIHR, and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan highlights her extensive expertise and demonstrate her significant contributions to advancing public health research and practice on both national and global scales. Dr. Saima’s unique blend of technical expertise, cross-disciplinary knowledge, dynamic communication skills, and strong commitment to developing inclusive, community-driven public health initiatives make her an invaluable asset to both research teams and public health organizations striving for impactful and sustainable change.
